I am a teacher of 21 years. Until last year I served at Wilson. Fifteen of those years were in fourth grade. I decided to give fifth grade a try one year. It was fun, but I decided that fourth grade was pretty awesome. I have delved into the world of second grade for a couple of years and spent two years as a Primary Reading Teacher. Now, I am embarking on a new adventure at Kane as an instructional coach. I'm excited be working with the fabulous staff and students of Kane Elementary.
As a perpetual learner, I earned a masters at OSU Tulsa in Teaching, Learning, and Leadership with an emphasis in literacy. I am always thrilled when I can try out my new learning within my classroom walls with my students and fellow teachers. In the vein of continued learning and professional growth, I have participated in the Master Teacher Project, phases I and II, acquired my National Board Certification, and have participated in endless book studies.
In addition to learning, I am a traveler and a cropper. Luckily, these two endeavors go together well. I mean you have to save your memories of your travels in a scrapbook, don’t you? I have tromped through San Francisco, explored Chicago, scoured the island of Grand Manan, and spelunked my way through Arkansas. I love the geography, varied cultures, and diverse histories of each place I visit. Time spent with friends and family journeying across America is always time well invested for me.
Speaking of my family, we are a family of four. My fantastically creative and kind nineteen year old daughter is always there (via text as she is at Oklahoma State) as a sounding board for teaching ideas and fashion advice (some of which I don’t always follow-maybe I should). My humorous and lifesaving husband is always there to give me perspective at the end of the day. Zoe, my Boxer, keeps me running with her antics. Each one of these personalities help keep me grounded in my daily life.
